A good hat gets worn every day, so it might be the best ad your business ever buys. We build patch hats and embroidered hats for companies and crews, and we bring the Hat Bar to events. Guests pick a hat and a patch, and we put it together on the spot.

Get a proof & price

You get a digital mockup and a clear quote with no surprise fees buried in it.

We make it

Once you approve, we order the blanks and produce everything in-house. Embroidery, print or engraving, it all gets checked before it's bagged.

Pick up or delivery

Local pickup or drop-off in the Lima area. Reorders are easy because your files and specs stay on hand.

About the shop

A husband-and-wife shop in Northwest Ohio.

The Knotty Dog Designs is Logan and Marsha Buettner. We started in January 2025 with a hat press and a lot of stubbornness. Now we handle embroidery, screen printing, DTF, laser engraving, and vinyl under one roof.

Logan has spent his career in public safety, where details and follow-through aren't optional. Marsha comes from veterinary medicine, where patience, attention to detail, and caring for even the most difficult personalities are all part of the job. Between the two of us, we've learned that doing things right matters as well as doing them fast.

We run the shop the same way. When you email us, one of us answers. When we give you a date, we mean it. And when we put our name on something, we want to be proud of it.

Straight answers.

What's your minimum order?

Posted tee pricing starts at 12 pieces. Hats, embroidery and laser engraving can run smaller. Tell us what you need and we'll tell you honestly whether it makes sense.

How long does an order take?

Most orders are ready in about 7–10 business days after you approve the proof. Need it sooner? Ask, and we'll tell you straight whether we can make it.

What artwork do you need?

Send whatever you've got. Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) work best, but we can clean up or rebuild a logo from a photo or JPG. Embroidery needs your logo digitized once. We quote that up front and keep the file for every reorder.

Why is embroidery priced differently than print?

Embroidery is priced by stitch count and machine time, not ink. A small left-chest logo and a full jacket back are very different jobs, so we quote embroidery by design.

Do you do screen printing?

Yes. Screen printing is usually the best value for larger runs with a few ink colors, like crew shirts, team tees and event shirts. DTF is better for full-color designs, photos and smaller orders. Tell us your design and quantity and we'll recommend the most cost-effective option.

Where are you located?

We're a home-based studio in the Spencerville / Lima, Ohio area. Pickups and sample visits are by appointment. Just email us to set a time.
